The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Maintenance Team Lead, FSN-7.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION    

Managing, coordinating, planning & scheduling the daily maintenance and repair needs for the Embassy compound buildings and residences. A team leader of 7 highly specialized HVAC Technicians/ Electricians, and 6 multi-trade technical work force. Prepares Electrical/HVAC Engineering plans, designs, drawings, specifications, bill of materials and cost estimates, monitor and inspect conditions of government owned or leased buildings and contract work in progress. Conduct inspection surveys that include all the electrical, mechanical (HVAC), plumbing fixtures and appliances for potential residences. Works closely with the GSO Housing Coordinator, as well as General Services Office Housing and Warehouse staffs to see that all the Facilities maintenance conditions are completed. The incumbent is part of the Post's on-call Duty Maintenance roster that provides coverage for emergency service. Incumbent directly reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.  

Requirements:

Experience: A minimum of three years experience in operation and maintenance of building engineering services in large modern commercial or Government building is required. Experience in maintenance of residential units and appliances.

Languages: Level III (Good Working Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing English and Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing Arabic or Hebrew is required. (This will be tested)

Skills & Abilities:

Must have a good technical understanding of building maintenance practices, electrical systems and electrical safety.

Must have general Computer Literacy.

Must have a minimum of Class B Driving License. Must acquire “C” class driving license (at applicant’s own expense) within 9 months of accepting the position. Failure to acquire the "C" class license within the specified time period will result in separation from the position.

Education Requirements:

Education: Secondary School is required. Completion of vocational training program from an accredited institute recognized ad producing journeyman level technicians with specialization as an Electrical or HVAC Technician. Certification from host government institution is required.
