The Opportunity – Cleaner
Post location: Gaza Field Office - Deir al Balah - PHCC
Contract Duration and Level of Effort: 3 months
ROLE PURPOSE
The cleaner/waste operator is responsible for maintaining adequate hygiene conditions of the primary health care center and for the disposal of clinical waste in a safe manner. This role is essential for the delivery of safe health services respecting infection control precautions.
Post holder will be expected to maintain high Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) standards according to Save the Children guidelines
SCOPE OF ROLE
Reports to: Health Officer

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Cleaner is responsible to clean and maintain cleanliness of consultation rooms, triage, waiting area, restrooms and other areas of the clinic.
- Maintains waste collection area clean and free of spills (walls, tables, floors).
- Ensure bins are emptied and clean when required.
- Ensure the grounds are free of clinic waste .
- Notify supervisor of any deficiencies or needs
- Ensure all waste is segregated into these three categories: General or domestic waste, Infectious waste + Organic, Sharps Waste
- Remove waste from clinical areas at least 1-2 times each day and more frequently as needed
- Waste bags should be tied before removing from the area
- Prepare waste for onsite and offsite transportation to the designated waste disposal zone
- Ensure waste containers are labeled appropriately according to the waste type
- Inspects waste containers are intact (not leaking), cleaned and replaced
- Store waste in specified areas with restricted access
- Any other tasks assigned by line manager or health team leader
