The Gaza Culture and Development Group (GCDG) is a non-profit and non-governmental organization established in 1990 by a group of Palestinian intellectuals aiming at promoting cultural awareness for all categories of the society. The association works on achieving sustainable development to achieve a better and sustainable future for all. It is officially registered with the Palestinian Ministry of Interior under No. 7288 since 2003.
Program Overview:
GCDG is seeking a Communication Officer for the (ILEED) program, GCDG in partnership with Global Communities implementing USAID Improve Livelihoods and Enhance Economic Development (ILEED). This program will focus on promoting resilient livelihoods in Gaza Strip and give households the tools they need to cope with recurrent crises. ILEED will engage both the demand and supply actors within the conflict affected market system. Program’s activities will support the production of and access to basic products and services that community entrepreneurs are already engaged in producing and providing, as well as encourage community entrepreneurs to fill critical service gaps with localized solutions. ILEED will also work to increasing access to resources and basic commodities to support community development and resilience.
Position overview
Under the direction of Project Manager; the Communication Officer will be responsible for all communication and visibility activities related to the project, including preparing communication plans as well as drafting and issuing publications and newsletters.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality communication materials in English and Arabic, including written content, verbal updates, photographic updates, and visualizations to support media outreach, advocacy, and project reporting. This includes drafting fact sheets, press releases, and social media content based on reputable sources. Develop and implement communications and visibility plans, including overseeing the delivery of campaigns, production of awareness-raising materials, and managing the distribution plan for project-related content. Ensure all communication materials, including reports, publications, and communications content, comply with donor guidelines and branding requirements.
- Manage and support procurement processes for communication activities, including developing Terms of Reference (ToRs), overseeing requests for quotations and coordinating tenders for communication materials.
- Work closely with teams to review and approve communication and awareness materials, ensuring they meet quality standards, comply with organizational guidelines, and align with donor branding requirements. Create and implement strategies to drive engagement across social media and other digital platforms.
- Take responsibility for preparing and finalizing bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly project reports, supporting the team as needed. Coordinate and collaborate closely with Global Communities to ensure alignment of communication strategies, timely delivery of materials, and consistency in messaging across all project activities.
- Organize and maintain project photos and video archives, ensuring easy access for future use.
- Perform other duties as requested by the direct supervisor.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Media, Social Science, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of proven experience in communications, focusing on media, public relations, or advocacy, ideally in a humanitarian or development context.
- Fluent in English and Arabic, with the ability to develop high-quality communication materials in both languages. A solid writing experience includes reports, factsheets, newsletters, case studies, success stories, press releases, social media content, and other communications materials.
- Experience collaborating with local community, stakeholders, and partner organizations to achieve project objectives Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and work collaboratively in a team. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
