Environmental Engineer

Water Resources / Environmental Engineer

The House of Water and Environment (HWE) is a Palestinian not-for-profit NGO that was established in the year 2004. HWE aims to promote practical research into the current and future state of water resources and the environment in Palestine and across the region. www.hwe.org.ps

The HWE is seeking to hire qualified Water resources / Environmental engineer work in a team at HWE main offices in Ramallah.

Job Description

• Participate in the daily operation of the HWE and assist in supervising the implementation of the HWE projects, related field solid waste management, water and wastewater management.

• Prepare project reports.

• Review the contractor’ and other consultants’ reports and provide comments and recommendations to HWE management, contractor, and engineering consultant.

• Assist in the development of the formats, applications, reports and related standard and guidelines needed to perform the required activities.

• Participate in the preparation of proposals and concepts for potential projects, and advise the HWE management and board of directors on the environmental soundness of these projects.

• Any other duties as specified by the HWE management

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:

• B.Sc. in environmental, civil, water resources engineering or related field; graduate degree is an advantage.

• Minimum of 3 years relevant professional experience in environmental studies and infrastructure projects in international organizations, consulting firms, or national NGOs.

• Experience in public institutions (Ministries, LGUs, JSCs, NGOs, authorities) is an advantage.

• Experience in developing environmental management plans, implementation and monitoring.

• Experience in capacity development and change management.

• Strong managerial, interpersonal skills, and proven team orientation.

• Demonstrable experience in project cycle management.

• Fluency in English and Arabic (spoken and written).

• Strong computer skills.

• Valid driving license.

• Preferred from Ramallah and AL Bireh cities.

• Contract period one year.
