How can you make a difference?

You will be joining a team of around 4,000 staff in the West Bank Field Office working to foster the human development of some 800,000 registered Palestine refugees. The incumbent of this post is responsible to Head Health Center (B) or Deputy Head Health Center (A) (as applicable) and receives technical supervision from the Field Laboratory Services Officer.

The main responsibilities include:

In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:

  • Performs the full range of laboratory services including biochemistry, hematology, serology, routine (urine and stool examination) and bacteriology;
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of laboratory information in the computerized health information system (e-Health);
  • Maintains laboratory equipment, supplies and reagents;
  • Updates the programming of the automated laboratory equipment and follows up the preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment;
  •  At Health Centers without senior Medical Laboratory Technologist:

- Prepares estimates of requirement for Replenishment of consumable supplies

- Prepares monthly and annual laboratory statistical reports

- Reviews and analyzes quality control results (internal & external) and makes the necessary intervention.

  • Performs such other duties and assignments as may be required.

Conditions of service

Monthly basic salary JD 871.47. Other benefits include:

  • Provident Fund contribution (7.5 % of basic salary staff member contribution, 15% of basic salary paid by the Agency)
  • Dependency allowances (if applicable)
  • 30 days of annual leave
  • Compulsory medical insurance

To qualify for this position, you will need:

Education: A university degree from a recognized university in Medical Laboratory Sciences; Possession of a license to practice medical laboratory services (where applicable)

Work experience: At least three years of experience in a providing laboratory services;

Experience: in the use of computers and an understanding of their use in health applications.

Language(s): Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.

You will also need to demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Good organizational skills and ability to work under pressure and cope with heavy workload;
  • Adequate computer skills;

  • Acts in accordance with the professional ethics and values.
