Projects Officer

Atfaluna Society for Deaf Children, located in Gaza City, is inviting applications from qualified persons for the post of Projects Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Projects Officer Implementation:

Specialized in advocacy and human rights, the Projects Officer will:

  • Develop advocacy projects plans and budgets
  • Participate in developing project proposals and project documentation
  • Take the lead in strategic planning, development, and implementation of communication campaigns; work with various partners, NGOs, private sector, and affected communities to implement the campaigns and incorporate them, themes of the World Humanitarian Summit, and the rights of PWDs into all relevant events and products across the wider humanitarian community
  • Communicate with ASDC’s various stakeholders for the sake of implementing its advocacy and communication plan
  • Take the lead in organizing media outreach as well as publicity, knowledge-sharing events, and promotional opportunities; arrange all media contacts, press briefings, and interviews; provide talking points and other materials as needed for senior staff; and respond to media inquiries quickly and effectively
  • Coordinate production of a diverse range of information products (including audio/visual communications) in support of the World Humanitarian Summit
  • Coordinate with the teams and partners to conduct capacity building trainings for partners
  • Be responsible for supporting the programme’s advocacy plan
  • Establish advocacy monitoring and evaluation systems including measurable indicators
  • Actively participate in project events (meetings/workshops/trainings)
  • Undertake other program administration tasks as and when necessary
  • Ensure transparency, ethical conduct, and efficiency in project implementation
  • Submit reports on advocacy project activities and expenditure as requested by ASDC management and donors and according to the advocacy projects timeframes
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
  • Report any changes which impact the advocacy project implementation
  • Support ASDC to start up and implement projects with good and adequate understanding of terms and conditions of projects agreements
  • Introduce better integration of gender related aspects to the work plans of ASDC and ensure that activities are implemented, recorded, reported, and analyzed to improve the gender equality situation
  • Undertake regular field trips to the project sites with the purpose of performing monitoring assessments, and documentations; develop reports and follow up on recommendations
  • Advocacy/Advancing A Policy-Oriented Agenda
  • Preparing information for advocacy
  • Identify and communicate relevant information for a variety of audiences for advocating ASDC’s mandate
  • Maintain a functioning network of contacts with a variety of stakeholders to promote a better understanding of ASDC’s mandate and to support advocacy efforts
  • Ensure the application of proven successful approaches and drafts proposals accordingly

  • Maintaining a network of contacts
  • Maintain an established network of contacts for general information sharing and to remain up-to-date on partnership related issues
  • Document and analyse innovative strategies and new approaches

  • Providing inputs to resource mobilization strategies
  • Analyze information/databases on potential and actual donors
  • Global Leadership and Advocacy for ASDC’s Goals
  • Preparing information for global advocacy
  • Identify and communicate relevant information for advocacy for ASDC’s goals for a variety of audiences

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, English literature, international relations or public policy is required
  • At least two years professional experience coordinating and executing internal and external advocacy project preferably in internationally- or humanitarian-focused organizations
  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal skills and the ability to perform in stressful situations with tight deadlines are essential
  • Familiarity with international humanitarian issues and key actors is essential; knowledge in persons with disabilities rights is beneficial
  • Proficiency in English is highly desired
