The Municipality of Gaza is seeking to recruit A Professional Psychologist on full-time basis to work for the ALPC in the project, titled (Healing the Wounds for Amputees) and funded by the ICRC.

About Municipality of Gaza (MoG)

MoG was established in 1893. It serves more than (1.1) million citizens, refugees and visitors, who commute to the city from other places. MoG provides the basic services, which include, but not limited to, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), environmental, social, economic and cultural services. It is the largest municipality in Palestine. Gaza City hosts most of the government offices, local and international institutions, public and private hospitals, various educational institutions and tourism and recreational areas.

About the project

The project aims at healing the wounds for the amputees, as well as, providing psychosocial support to the beneficiaries of the ALPC in order to improve their living conditions and enhance their wellbeing.

It provides psychosocial support to the amputees through group and individual therapy sessions and the ALPC workers, as well.

Job Requirements

·Bachelor degree is preferable; certified diploma in psychology.

·Clinical Mental Health and Psychosocial training is required.

·2 years of proven work experience in the field of Mental Health & Psychosocial Support

·At least one-year experience in providing clinical assistance (individual and group therapy)

·Experience in providing mental health and psychosocial support to people with disabilities is desired.

·Good knowledge in English language skills (reading, writing, and speaking).

·Good analytical and reporting skills.

·Computer skills.

·Adherence to working during the emergencies

Job Description

·Contribute to the implementation and operation of MHPSS related activities in ALPC under the coordination and supervision of the ALPC management team and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) MHPSS team.

·Provide individual and group session to the beneficiaries of ALPC center; provide capacity building to the staff of ALPC with support from the ICRC; provide monthly/annual written reports regarding the activities made.

·Maintain service provider's data (e.g. Ministry of Health, INGOs & local NGOs, other stakeholders).

·Maintain good, direct networks with ICRC MHPSS delegate and Field Officer.

Responsibilities and Duties

The MHPSS focal person is responsible for the implementation and development of mental health and psychosocial activities to ALPC beneficiaries and contributes to the multidisciplinary approach, together with other ALPC staff members based on the beneficiaries’ needs during the rehabilitation process.

The MHPSS Focal person is expected to integrate the intra rehabilitation MHPSS process into the overall continuum of care process of the amputee, through working in cooperation with ICRC and other relevant partners, promoting a systemic approach to beneficiaries’ MHPSS needs from hospital, rehabilitation to community.

1. Mental Health and psychosocial activities

·Participate in the multidisciplinary team in beneficiaries’ assessments and interventions.

·Conduct individual interviews with beneficiaries for the assessment of mental health and psychosocial related needs, including:

o   Assessment of family dynamics;

o   Assessment of social/environmental support;

o   Assessment of emotional/psychological impact of disability.

o   Assessment of beneficiaries’ expectations about rehabilitation process.

o   Evaluation of coping strategies used by beneficiaries.

o   Evaluation of beneficiaries needs in terms of referral to MH specialized services.

·Evaluate the social and environmental conditions and practical needs of beneficiaries.

·Evaluate if beneficiaries have other medical or social needs (poverty, lack of family support, need for vocational training, etc.).

·Document, analyse and evaluate the information collected for monitoring purposes.

·Conduct family orientation activities (group and individual).

·Conduct sensitization and psycho education activities (group and individual).

·Conduct support groups.

·Provide individual MHPSS support as per needs in acute cases (PFA or other techniques).

·Provide referrals as appropriate.

·Follow up on referrals made to other organisations/institutions.

·Participate with the multidisciplinary team at case discussions.

·Participate with the multidisciplinary team at pertinent training sessions.

2. Internal ALPC duties

Ÿ  Develop and maintain a pleasant working atmosphere with colleagues in ALPC as well as interlocutors outside of ALPC.

Ÿ  Participate in internal meetings as requested by ALPC management.

Ÿ  Support and advises on the MHPSS aspects for the development of MDT treatment plans.

Ÿ  Work in cooperation with ALPC management at all times, informing of issues and development of the program.

Ÿ  Complete written reports on a monthly basis and provides to ALPC management with a copy to the ICRC.

3. Patient History Database

Ÿ  Register all patient information accurately and always ensure confidentiality of medical records and patient information.  

Work Terms and Conditions

·Full-time job contract, signed by the Municipality of Gaza and ICRC, during the period from February 1st, 2022 to November 31st, 2022.

·An evaluation will be conducted each 3 months, over the whole work entire period.
