Health Specialist Vacancy

The Ministry of Health (MoH) / World Bank Projects Management Unit (PMU) is seeking to hire a full-time Health specialist to provide the technical advice and support needed for the implementation of the different project’s activities financed by the World Bank. The health specialist will be working closely with the Project Management Unit, MOH related departments and other stakeholders to assist in managing overall projects technical aspects and provide technical support required for implementing the projects different components.

Tasks/Activities

The Health Specialist will be working on the following activities:

·  Manage and supervise technical and implementation aspects of projects

·  Provide strategic direction, management, and leadership for technical activities and facilitated the achievement of project objectives.

·  Contribute towards the achievement of the projects development objectives and serve as the main senior technical and Policy advisor vis a vis the World Bank.

·  Provide technical support to coordinate the projects activities with MOH.

·  Prepare the required terms of reference (TOR) for the consultancy assignments under the project.

·  Work closely with the project staff, MOH and stakeholders to develop policy analysis.

·  Conduct review meetings at the field level to review performance, targets achieved as per the Bank’s requirements, and provide technical support to the Project Management Unit.

·  Prepare the implementation progress reports.

·  Lead the M&E aspect of the project and provide systematic updates to ensure that aggregated data is available on regular basis.

·  Perform any other tasks requested by the projects Coordinator.

Contracting Arrangements and Timeframe

MoH will sign a time-based contract with the Health Specialist. The duration of the assignment is one year on full-time basis extendable to the full length of the project (5 years) subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and needs of the PMU.

Required Qualifications & Expertise

·  Postgraduate in Public Health, Environmental Health, Community Medicine, preferably Master or PHD.

·  Preferably over 10 years of experience in public health, health systems, primary care, hospital care, or other health management issues is desirable

·  Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

·  Ability to manage a complex and diverse workload and to work to tight deadlines.

·  Ability to contribute to proactive team, motivating staff and working collaboratively with colleagues and providing support and advice as necessary.

·  skills in written and spoken English
