“Community Learning Program Coordinator”

Tamer Institute for Community Education is a non-governmental organization, founded in Jerusalem in 1989, in response to the urgent need of Palestinian society to acquire effective means to help learn and produce literature and knowledge in the light of the difficult social and economic conditions of the Israeli occupation by focusing on the right to learn, identity and access to knowledge for a free and secure Palestinian learning society. Tamer Institute for Community Education is active in both West Bank and Gaza Strip, working with children and young people to develop their tools for self-expression, surroundings and identity formation, building on programs that promote reading, writing and expression in all its forms, building a supportive environment for learning culture in Palestine, and supporting literacy and cognitive production in the culture of children and young people.

Tamer Institute for Community Education announces an opportunity to join its team through the "Community Learning Program Coordinator" site to work at its headquarters in the city of Ramallah.

We encourage those who belong to and believe in the importance of community work as a tool for change towards a more just, free and humane society, and contribute to building a national identity based on experience by raising the cultural awareness of children and young people. Those with the following skills and abilities are encouraged to apply for this challenge:

  • Supervising and coordinating community learning programs and projects (Youth Program, Working with Libraries, Campaigns, Protection and Emergencies) in the West Bank and Gaza.
  • Supervising the development of project proposals in accordance with the strategic objectives of the institution.
  • Participation in the preparation of strategic plans.
  • In coordination with the Coordinator of the Knowledge Production Program, supervising and developing media and communication policies, enhancing the institution's cultural position at the local and international levels, and following up on the reading campaign publications and media coverage.
  • Supervising, building and developing local and international partnerships and children's festivals.
  • Contribute to providing periodic interactive opportunities to stimulate creative thinking and expression among children and adolescents.
  • The initiative to create productive Palestinian volunteer initiatives.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • A university degree in social sciences or humanities, or one of the related disciplines, a master's holders are preferred,
  • Five years of experience in similar organizations in senior management and project management positions,
  • Extensive experience in the field of community learning, working with children, adolescents and child culture,
  • Fluent in both Arabic and English reading, writing and speaking,
  • High ability to write professional reports,
  • Wisdom, prudence, tact and good conduct,
  • Master the skills of analysis, direction, and evaluation,
  • High skills in leadership and management,
  • Effective communication skills, especially listening, speaking and supervising,
  • Ability to work under pressure and teamwork within a team,
  • The ability to deal with a group of Microsoft programs, e-mail and the Internet.
