Oxfam has been working in the OPT and Israel since the 1950s and established a country office in the 1980s. We work in the most vulnerable communities in Gaza, East Jerusalem, and Area C, the 61 percent of the West Bank where the government of Israel maintains full military and civil control. In total, we work with more than 60 Palestinian and Israeli partner organizations. Together we are finding ways to improve the livelihoods and rights of these communities.

The Role

Oxfam is seeking to recruit a Country Director to contribute to and deliver the Oxfam’s Global Strategy, by providing vision and strategic direction to all of Oxfam’s work in OPT/I which includes Oxfam’s humanitarian responses and long term development programs (Gender justice, economic justice, and influencing pillars). The role reports to the Regional Manager (MENA) is accountable to the Regional Director - MENA (Middle East and North Africa) through that position.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a passionate and dynamic leader with very solid experience in leading and motivating multi-disciplinary, geographically remote teams that have operated across a number of locations

You will have strong and proven senior leadership and management experience in leading the development, and ensuring delivery of program strategy with partners and within a networked and interdependent approach in one or more challenging locations, and to Ability to optimize fundraising from diverse institutions, both local and international to deliver strategy. High level financial and asset management skills are a must to steer and efficiently manage the operational budget

You will have a proven track record of success in representing an organization at various levels (nationally and globally) including: with partners, government agencies, private sector organizations, media and donors. Your strategic understanding of the geopolitical dynamics across the Middle East and its position in the global setting as well as solid experience of managing security, risk and legal compliance within an INGO context will help you excel in the role.
